In India, Yamaha is aggressively growing the range of its high-end motorcycles. The brand is currently preparing for the release of the MT-09, a more potent naked middleweight streetfighter, by introducing the YZF-R3 and MT-03 first.

2024 Yamaha MT-09: A More Acerbic, Sharper Design

The newest edition of the bike, the Yamaha MT-09, which was announced as the 2024 model at EICMA 2023, is going to be shipped to India. The more refined design language of this version is evocative of that of its bigger sibling, the MT-10. The bike’s aggressive and threatening appearance is enhanced by the vertically stacked LED headlight design and LED DRLs on the front, which showcase the bike’s revolutionary styling. The headlight cowl, which is evocative of Iron Man’s mask, gives the bike a unique, futuristic look. A larger fuel tank, a streamlined tail section, and a sleeker headlight cowl are some other noteworthy design changes.

Enhanced Hardware for Superior Performance

New hardware is included with the MT-09 to complement the redesign of the design. Brembo brakes have been added, which is a major improvement and a first for this model. Additionally, KYB’s front USD fork and rear monoshock have been modified to provide better damping and spring rates. The MT-09’s sturdy 890 cc CP3 three-cylinder engine, which produces 117.3 bhp and 93 Nm of torque, ensures that there is never a lack of power.

Advanced Features and Cutting-Edge Technology

Along with updated, user-friendly switchgear, the MT-09 boasts a new colour TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity and navigation. The bike’s electronics include three riding modes (Street, Sport, and Rain), ABS, traction control with six-axis IMU support, and slide control. The bike also has two riding modes that may be customised for customised performance.

Yamaha’s Revolutionary Y-AMT Transmission

Yamaha’s Y-AMT semi-automatic gearbox is one of the most anticipated features that might be included with the MT-09 when it makes its Indian debut. With the use of two actuators—one for the clutch and another for gear shifting—this unique gearbox enables automatic gear changes in D/D+ modes. The left-hand switch cube’s switches can be used by riders to manually change gears if they want.

Expected Launch and Pricing

The MT-09 is expected to launch in the Indian market during the first half of September, while the precise date is still pending confirmation. At approximately ₹14 lakh, the MT-09 is a premium offering in the market since it will be imported as a fully assembled unit, using the same approach as the YZF-R3 and MT-03.
