The Indian men’s boxing team, consisting of ten members, will be led by bronze medallist Narender Berwal at the first World Boxing Cup in Foz do Iguacu, Brazil, beginning Monday.

India will have live streaming access to the 2025 World Boxing Cup Brazil

This competition is the first World Boxing event after boxing was included to the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and the sport was given provisional accreditation by the International Olympic Committee in February.

Both men’s and women’s competitions will take place, although India has only fielded male boxers because the women’s National Championships ended on Thursday. Indian boxers will be competing internationally for the first time in the new weight classes that World Boxing has implemented.

World Boxing Cup 2024: Over 130 Boxers from 19 Nations Set to Compete

The first World Boxing Cup of the year will take place at the Rafain Palace Hotel & Convention and feature over 130 boxers, including Olympians, from 19 different countries: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chinese Taipei, France, England, Germany, Guatemala, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, Norway, Panama, Poland, Switzerland, Sweden, USA, Uzbekistan, and Wales.

The boxers who placed first and second in their respective weight classes at the January National Championships went to Brazil for a week-long training session.

Elite Indian boxers will be competing on the world scene for the first time since the Olympics in Paris.

The only Indian playing on the first day will be Lakshya Chahar. In the 80kg pre-quarterfinals, he will face Wanderley Pereira of Brazil, the middleweight silver medallist from the 2023 World Championship.
