At the worldwide September launch event held in Berlin yesterday, Xiaomi introduced its 13T series.
The event’s main focus was not, however, the new smartphones. Along with the launch of the Smart Band 8, Xiaomi also unveiled its most recent smartwatch, the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro.
Xiaomi: Smart Band 8
In April, the Mi Band 8, also referred to as the Smart Band 8, was released in China. It has an eye-catching, 1.62-inch AMOLED pill-shaped display with a 490 x 192 pixel resolution. The Band 8 has an outstanding peak brightness of 600 nits and features Always-on Display technology.
The Band 8 features extensive health and fitness tracking capabilities, including new interactive fitness courses, much like its predecessor, the Band 7. These programs use the accelerometer in the Band 8 to track your motions while you work out in real time.
With the Band 8, Xiaomi places a heavy emphasis on style and offers a number of official strap alternatives in various styles and materials, including metal, leather, and nylon fabric. Xiaomi also offers enhanced tracking and posture monitoring with a pendant accessory and a clip that can be attached to your shoes.
When the Always-on Display option is turned on, the Band 8’s battery life drops to 6 days from up to 16 days when used normally. The unique two-pin charger is used for charging and guarantees a full charge in about one hour.
The cost of the Xiaomi Band 8 is €40.
Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro
A comprehensive Google Wear OS smartwatch, the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro offers a vast selection of third-party apps that customers may download and use. It comes in models with Bluetooth alone and models with LTE, the latter of which allows users to stay connected even when not paired with a smartphone by making and receiving calls, sending texts, and staying online.
The 1.43-inch AMOLED display on the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro has a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels and a maximum brightness of 600 nits. The watch also has Always-on-Display technology and 20 pre-installed watch faces to accommodate different user preferences.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon W5 + Gen 1 wearable platform, along with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, forms the basis of the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and dual-band GNSS positioning are additional features of this smartwatch. Notably, the Watch 2 Pro weighs 54.5 grams (without the strap) and has a 5ATM water resistant rating.
With the Watch 2 Pro, Xiaomi offers extensive health monitoring features, such as continuous heart rate and blood oxygen tracking, as well as sleep and stress tracking.
The wristwatch also features a bioelectrical impedance sensor for calculating body composition parameters like body fat percentage and muscle mass, as well as activity monitoring for more than 150 sports modes.
The Watch 2 Pro has a 495 mAh battery that may last up to 65 hours on the Bluetooth-only device and 55 hours on the LTE model, ensuring extended usage. The specialized two-pin magnetic charger makes charging easier.
The Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro has a starting price of €270 for the Bluetooth-only version and €330 for the LTE version.
