Adobe is introducing advanced generative AI tools designed to streamline time-consuming production processes, such as batch image editing and video translation. Among the standout features is “Firefly Bulk Create,” an application capable of resizing up to 10,000 images or replacing their backgrounds with a single click, eliminating the need for repetitive manual edits.

This innovative tool integrates multiple Firefly-powered APIs, tailored for users with minimal technical expertise. Currently in beta, Bulk Create is divided into two functionalities within Adobe’s Firefly web app: “Remove Background” and “Resize.” By enabling customers to upload pics from their computer, Dropbox, or Adobe Experience Manager, the first feature makes backdrop removal easier. It’s especially beneficial for product marketers, offering the ability to replace backgrounds with specific colors (defined by HEX codes) or custom images, delivering variations ready for further refinement. Users can save outputs as PNG or JPEG files, with PSD support promised in the future.

The “Resize” tool offers predefined dimensions for popular ad formats across platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. Powered by generative AI, it extends image backgrounds to meet size requirements. While effective for simple backdrops, its current performance on complex foregrounds is less refined, occasionally resulting in noticeable distortions. Despite these limitations, the tool is a time-saver for resizing marketing visuals, rivaling similar features offered by platforms like Canva and Adobe Express but with the added convenience of one-click processing.

Adobe is also rolling out new developer APIs to accelerate workflows in video and print production. These include a “Dubbing and Lip Sync” tool for translating and syncing video audio in 14 languages, and an InDesign feature that auto-formats text and images for digital or print layouts using predefined templates. Additionally, beta testing will begin for “digital avatars” that leverage text descriptions and voice recordings to create video presenters for product demonstrations and explainers.

Given the substantial computing power required to process up to 10,000 images, Adobe plans to implement a consumption-based pricing model. Users will likely need to subscribe to a premium Adobe Firefly plan that provides generative credits, which can be spent on these advanced features.
