WhatsApp has begun testing a new feature that lets users alter the iPhone app’s appearance and feel. According to WAbetaInfo, the Meta-owned instant messaging service has begun beta testing chat themes with a limited number of customers.

Instead of using a single theme for the entire app, users can select different themes for specific chats thanks to this feature. By giving users more individualised options, this change seeks to improve the user experience.

How it works

To ensure consistency between chats, users can choose a default theme for all talks in the app’s settings. Additionally, by choosing the theme option from the overflow menu within a chat, they can personalise themes for specific chats. With more than 22 unique themes and 20 colour choices, users may customise their messaging experience in a variety of ways.

To keep the visual experience consistent, a complementary message colour is automatically applied for each theme that is chosen. Users can further customise individual chats by changing the chat background while maintaining the theme hue. Users can utilise this functionality to give certain chats distinct themes.

Availability

The source explained that the functionality appears to be launching in the iOS beta version. Not every user will have immediate access because the distribution is phased.
