A few days after winning the IPL 2024 title, on June 2, Venkatesh Iyer, an outstanding all-around player for the Kolkata Knight Riders, tied the knot with Shruti Raghunathan. In the presence of family and friends, the pair, who became engaged in November of last year, exchanged vows in a traditional ceremony.
Social media users have shared pictures from Iyer’s wedding ceremony, in which the newlyweds can be seen wearing traditional South Indian wedding attire. Both were observed carrying out the customary Indian marital rituals.
Shruti has a B.Com. from PSG College of Arts and Science and a Master’s degree in Fashion Management from NIFT, India, whereas Iyer is occupied with playing cricket. She is a merchandise planner now employed for Lifestyle International Private Limited in Bengaluru.
After an incredible IPL season in which he was crucial in KKR’s third IPL title victory, Iyer has been in good spirits. The 29-year-old smashed four boundaries and three enormous sixes in a stunning 52 not out off just 26 balls in the championship match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Under Shreyas Iyer’s leadership, KKR achieved a historical victory thanks to his heroic efforts.
With 370 runs at an average of 46.25 and a strike rate of 158.79 in 15 games, the all-around player ended as the third-highest run scorer for the Kolkata-based team in 2024. He had an amazing season with the team. The left-hander has 1326 runs in 50 IPL games, with one century and eleven fifties.
In terms of his international career, Iyer debuted for the Indian side in T20Is in 2021 against New Zealand in Jaipur, and in ODIs the following year in Paarl against South Africa. He’s scored 24 runs in two One-Day Internationals and 133 runs in nine Twenty20 Internationals. He has hammered 1132 runs in 20 first-class games and 1458 runs in 43 list A games.
Even though the batter hasn’t played for the Indian squad in a while, his current performance in the rich league will undoubtedly help him get called up again.
