Samsung’s latest wristwatch, the Galaxy Watch Ultra, is poised to compete with the Apple Watch Ultra 2. The new smartwatch boasts a 1.5-inch Sapphire Crystal display featuring an AMOLED panel with an impressive 3,000 nits of brightness and a resolution of 480×480. The watch is also protected by titanium-padded frames.
This is the first smartwatch to come preloaded with WearOS-based One UI 6. Samsung’s newest wristwatch software introduces a range of health tracking features, including the Energy Score, which estimates the user’s body energy levels similar to Fitbit’s Readiness Score. It evaluates physical and mental health based on four factors: sleep, activity, resting heart rate, and heart rate variability during sleep.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra offers an in-depth analysis of sleep quality through its Sleep Score and various other sleep metrics, such as heart and respiration rates, sleep movement, and sleep latency. In certain regions, it can even help detect sleep apnea. Moreover, Samsung has added an advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) index, which gives a comprehensive view of biological aging and metabolic health.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra features IP68 water and dust resistance and 10ATM water resistance. Previous reports indicated that the smartwatch includes a third physical button situated between the two existing rectangular buttons.
Powered by the Exynos W1000 chipset, which uses 3nm technology, the Galaxy Watch Ultra comes with 32GB of storage and 2GB of RAM—twice the amount offered by the Galaxy Watch 6. Its 590mAh battery can last up to 100 hours on a single charge with power-saving mode enabled.
The new BioActive Sensor in the Galaxy Watch Ultra is claimed to be 30% more accurate than previous versions. Additionally, the watch includes a temperature sensor, accelerometer, barometer, gyro sensor, and light sensor, similar to earlier Galaxy Watch models. Priced at $649 (approximately Rs 54,200), the Galaxy Watch Ultra was made available in a single screen size starting July 12.
