Actor Sai Tamhankar has recently confirmed her split from longtime partner, filmmaker Anish Joag. Speculation around their breakup began circulating a few weeks ago when Tamhankar shared a cryptic message on Instagram, saying, “I’m single by choice. Not my choice. But it’s still a choice,” and removed all her photos with Joag. Addressing the breakup for the first time, Tamhankar shared with us that the separation was mutual, explaining, “Yes, we have gone our separate ways, and it was a decision we both arrived at together. It was difficult, but sometimes things unfold as they do. He holds a special place in my life, and I will always wish him the best, and I believe he feels the same way.”
Prior to her relationship with Joag, Tamhankar was married to visual effects artist Amey Gosavi. The two tied the knot in 2013 but parted ways two years later in 2015. Following her divorce, Tamhankar began dating Joag, who went on to produce several films featuring her, including YZ (2016), Girlfriend (2019), and Dhurala (2020).
Reflecting on the public interest in her personal life, the actress, known for her recent role in the thriller series Manvat Murders, shared her approach to privacy: “I’m very clear on maintaining the line between my professional and personal life, and I guard that boundary fiercely.”
On the career front, Tamhankar is set to appear in the upcoming film Ground Zero with Emraan Hashmi. Offering an update on the project, she revealed, “It’s currently in post-production, and from the reports we’ve received, the feedback has been very positive. I’m eagerly looking forward to its release.”
Discussing her experience working with Hashmi, Tamhankar remarked, “I feel like he’s often been typecast, and only a few directors have tapped into his true acting potential. I’m glad to see the roles he’s choosing now, and it’s truly been a pleasure to work alongside him,” she concluded.
