The Mate XT Ultimate Design tri-fold phone from Huawei is now being shipped in China, but people outside of the country won’t have to wait long for it to be released internationally.
The company is currently expecting a global release for the Mate XT Ultimate in the first quarter of 2025, according to reviewer Ben Sin and publisher GSMArena.
Following some initial doubts about the phone’s availability outside of China, the news was released. With its 10.2-inch folding OLED display that folds twice into a more compact form, the Mate XT Ultimate has the title of being the first tri-fold phone to be sold commercially.
But the cost of this state-of-the-art technology is high. The 16GB/256GB version costs CNY 19,999 (about USD 2,800 or EUR 2,550) upon launch in China. Due to price fluctuations, taxes, and other factors, the price tag will probably increase even further in overseas markets, beyond USD 3,000 or EUR 3,000.
Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Specifications
The Huawei Mate XT has a flexible display that may be used for many purposes. It functions as a 6.4-inch FHD+ phone when closed. It can be unfolded halfway to reveal a 7.9-inch 2K screen that’s ideal for emails or videos.
When fully extended, it transforms into a 10.2-inch 3K tablet, simulating a desktop. Its thin profile is slightly thicker than the Z Fold 6 at just 3.6 mm when open and 12.8 mm when folded.
A 12MP ultrawide, a 12MP periscope telephoto lens, and a 50MP primary sensor with variable aperture make up the camera configuration. Selfies and video calls are handled by an 8MP front camera.
Huawei fits a 5600mAh silicon carbon battery into the Mate XT in spite of its intricate hinge. The battery is said to be the thinnest of its kind in the world and can support both 50W wireless charging and 66W cable charging.
For even more productivity, the tablet can be paired with a foldable touch keyboard. For consumers looking for a desktop experience on the go, this functionality makes the Mate XT a useful tool.
