At Motoverse 2024, Royal Enfield debuted the new Scram 440. Based on the Scram 411, the new Royal Enfield Scram 440 is an improved model. The bike gains new colourways, additional features, a larger engine, and more power.
The chassis of the previous Royal Enfield Scram 411, which was taken from the Himalayan 411, is still present in the current Scram 440. The rear subframe is now composed of new steel for increased rigidity and has been modified for greater load-bearing capabilities. The new LED headlamp and indicators are an improvement, but the appearance is still the same.
In addition, the bike has wire-spoked wheels, while alloy wheels are now an option for buyers. Both are equipped with dual-purpose tires and 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels. As previously stated, the seat height is 200 mm and the ground clearance is 200 mm. The Scram 440 will include the same digital-analogue cluster as the previous model, along with a Type-A USB charger. As an optional extra, a Tripper Pod for navigation is offered.
Royal Enfield Scram 440: Power and performance
The bored-out 443 cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine now provides the power. This is based on the original Himalayan/Scram’s 411 long-stroke engine. The motor can now generate 4.5% more power and 6.5% more torque thanks to the 3 mm bigger diameter. The updated motor now produces a peak torque of 34 Nm and 25.4 horsepower.
A significant improvement over the previous Scram 411, the engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. According to Royal Enfield, the new LS 440 powertrain’s sixth gear has decreased fuel consumption and vibration while driving on the highway. Tractive effort, or the force a vehicle applies to its driving wheels, has improved as a result of the increased final drive ratio.
Royal Enfield Scram 440: Cycle parts
The suspension system is unchanged, consisting of a monoshock at the back with 180 mm of travel and telescopic forks at the front. A 300 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc have improved braking performance, and the kit includes switchable ABS. With a dry weight of 187 kg, the Scram 440 is slightly heavier than its predecessor by 2 kg. The centre stand is now included as a fixture with the bike.
The new Scram 440 from Royal Enfield will go on sale in January 2025. A slight price increase over the previous model is to be expected.
