Kia India is preparing to unveil the next-generation Carnival MPV on October 3, 2024. Ahead of its official debut, the automaker has released a teaser showcasing the luxurious flagship model, which will be launched alongside the brand-new Kia EV9 electric SUV.
The teaser offers a glimpse of the opulence the new Carnival aims to deliver, likening its premium features to those of a luxury cruise ship. Inside, the MPV is set to feature top-notch details such as leather-appointed captain seats and power-operated sliding doors, underscoring its high-end appeal.
According to a report by HT Auto, the upcoming Carnival is expected to come loaded with modern technology, including two 12.3-inch digital screens—one for the instrument cluster and another for the infotainment system. These displays will offer wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Additional standout features include dual sunroofs, dashcams for both the front and rear, a head-up display, a digital rearview mirror, and ambient cabin lighting, all designed to elevate the driving and passenger experience.
The new Carnival is also larger than its predecessor, now extending over 5 meters in length, which is expected to translate into increased interior space, providing even more comfort for passengers, especially those seated in the rear.
Kia has kicked off its promotional campaign ahead of the Carnival’s official launch. Initially, the vehicle will be imported into India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), but there are plans to localize production in the future. Due to its CBU status, the price of the new Carnival is expected to surpass ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom), making it significantly more expensive than the previous model.
Despite the premium pricing, select Kia dealerships have already begun accepting unofficial pre-orders for the new Carnival, with a booking amount of ₹1 lakh. Deliveries are expected to follow shortly after its launch in October.
Kia is likely to offer the new Carnival with various seating configurations, mirroring the options available globally, which include 7-, 9-, and 11-seater layouts. The Indian version is expected to continue using the familiar 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel engine from the outgoing model, paired with an automatic transmission. While global markets have access to additional engine options, such as a 3.5-liter V6 and a 1.6-liter turbo petrol, these alternatives may not be offered in India initially.
