Google has introduced Gemini 2.5, the latest addition to its advanced family of AI reasoning models that incorporate chain-of-thought prompting for enhanced problem-solving. The first model in this series, Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental, is now available for use through Google AI Studio and for Gemini Advanced users via the Gemini AI chat interface.

Koray Kavukcuoglu, Chief Technology Officer at Google DeepMind, elaborated on this major development in a blog post, emphasizing the company’s ongoing efforts to refine AI’s cognitive abilities. “We’ve long looked on ways to improve AI’s intelligence and reasoning skills using methods like chain-of-thought prompting and reinforcement learning. Building on this foundation, we recently introduced our first thinking model, Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking,” he stated. “By combining a much improved base model with better post-training methods, we have now reached a new level of performance with Gemini 2.5,” he continued.

Moving forward, Google plans to embed these advanced reasoning capabilities directly into all of its future AI models, ensuring they continue to evolve with even greater problem-solving skills.

One of the standout features of Gemini 2.5 Pro is its multimodal processing capability, which allows it to analyze text, audio, images, videos, and even code repositories. Additionally, the model boasts an impressive 1 million token context window, making it one of the most powerful experimental AI models in terms of memory and data retention. Google has also confirmed that this context window will soon be expanded to 2 million tokens, further enhancing its ability to handle long-form conversations and complex data processing.

According to Google, Gemini 2.5 Pro has outperformed leading AI reasoning models across various benchmark tests, including code editing, software development, and a multimodal assessment covering mathematics, humanities, and natural sciences. These results indicate that Gemini 2.5 is setting a new standard for AI-driven critical thinking and advanced problem-solving.

While Google has not yet disclosed the exact pricing for Gemini 2.5 Pro, the company has stated that official pricing details will be released in the coming weeks.

This latest AI development follows Google’s release of Gemma 3 in March, a compact yet powerful small language model designed for on-device applications. With these advancements, Google continues to push the boundaries of AI intelligence, making strides toward more human-like reasoning and smarter automated decision-making.
