The Airports Council International (ACI) Airport Service Quality Awards 2023 have named Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru the world’s best airport for arrivals.
Two other airports, Thiruvananthapuram International Airport in Kerala and Zayed International Airport – Terminal A in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, are tied for the title of best airport in arrivals globally with KIA.
ACI reports that 31 airports have received ACI Airport Service Quality Awards, including 27 airports in Asia-Pacific and 4 in the Middle East.
The ACI Airport Service Quality Awards have recognized six airports in India in total.
With more than 40 million (4 crore) passengers handled, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai and Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi have been named the top airports in the Asia-Pacific area.
The Asia-Pacific region’s top airport for 1.5 to 2 crore passengers, or 15 to 25 million people, is Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. In the Asia-Pacific area, Chandigarh Airport is the best airport for traveller volume between two and five million (20 to 50 lakh).
According to ACI, the ASQ Program is the world’s largest program for measuring and benchmarking airport customer experiences. It was created in collaboration with Amadeus, a significant provider of travel technology.
ACI claims that in opposition to other aviation industry programs, ASQ’s methodology is based on real-time research using surveys given to passengers at the airport to gauge their degree of satisfaction. The polls address more than 30 performance metrics relating to important aspects of the traveler experience at airports, including shopping and food options, check-in processes, and ease of navigation.
From east to west, airports in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Republic of Korea, China, India, Oman, United Arab Emirates, and Jordan have excelled in offering customers the best available service. Airports in the Asia-Pacific region have made significant investments in infrastructure, technology, and human resources to ensure that travelers continue to have a comfortable and memorable experience, despite the fact that the region has been hardest hit by the pandemic, according to Stefano Baronci, Director General, ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East.
