Why did you decide to go into a social media-based business?
Starting a business is expensive. I worked at a beauty shop when I was 19, and I saw how many expenses there were upfront just to be in business. The more I explored social media, the more I realized how powerful it could be and that I could help so many people directly without the costs.
What was a major challenge you had to overcome in getting to where you are today?
Figuring out how to get followers, do my makeup and posing, and find great photographers to work with. Those were all pretty significant challenges. But starting a business was its own challenge. There’s no set method to do it. You just have to dive in and do your best. Taking care of my customers is huge for me, so I had to make sure I was doing a good job.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
I used to be way too hard on myself. Being my own worst critic was so intimidating and lonely. So I’d say, don’t doubt yourself! Don’t doubt how much others can lift you up and how much you can help others.
