“We are very excited to bring our passion to esports and spread our love of gaming!”, said Hakan Bayram, the organization’s founder and owner. Bayram comes from a small community from Long Island, NY. He has been playing video games for most of his life and is turning it into a career.
Intriguingly, the esports organization is extremely creative in the way that they disrupt the gaming scene. Uploading videos to their YouTube channel entitled “Team Empyrean”, the team is essentially creating art. “You have to be different. And that’s what we strive to do with our videos”, said Christian Basye whom owns the team as well, alongside Hakan Bayram, and is the editor for the content on the YouTube channel and website, www.teamempyrean.com.
Teenagers are thrilled to see Team Empyrean expand as it reminds them of corporate conglomerate, FaZe Clan, who used to produce similar videos dating as far back as 2010. The team consists of a handful of elite members who are well experienced in the popular video game, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
Members of the team are easy to recognize online, putting the prefix “Emp” in their usernames. Some of the more notable members are Emp Viperr; Emp Timez; and Emp Meen. Spread out all over the country, these up-and-coming professional gamers and content creators are playing Call of Duty for hours a day, trying to create content to entertain the general public.
“I spend 8 hours a day trying to record good clips, and sometimes it’s even live.”, said Emp Dedicated, another known member of Team Empyrean.
“There’s not much else to do really, either you stick to the go to school, get a nine-to-five job and pay taxes, or you do something different. You follow your dreams” he continued.
Team Empyrean has made a name for itself by taking a social media content-first approach to gaming and is paving the way for other teams. While montages of Call of Duty aren’t as nearly as popular as they were just a half-decade ago, Team Empyrean is setting new standards every day, and proving that you can still be successful in this industry.
“We work hard, nonstop, because if we don’t do it, someone else will. If you don’t take it seriously someone else will. In order to achieve your goals, you need to take action, and that’s what we are doing here”, said Hakan Bayram. “Eventually, you will see Team Empyrean every time you go on the internet. That’s where I see Team Empyrean in the near future.”
