The next-generation ProPILOT driving assistance system, which will be powered by a combination of Wayve’s AI driving software, next-generation Lidar, and Nissan Ground Truth Perception technology, will be introduced by Nissan starting in fiscal year 2027.

Next-Gen Upgrade for Safer Self-Driving

The new system is intended to greatly improve autonomous driving performance and collision avoidance in challenging urban and highway settings.

Ground Truth Enables Safer Autonomous

Lidar, radar, and camera technologies are combined in Ground Truth Perception to produce a comprehensive 360-degree image of a vehicle’s environment, enabling accurate obstacle detection and real-time decision-making.

Wayve Drives More Intelligent Self-Driving Technology

Wayve, a multinational artificial intelligence business that specializes on embodied AI for driving, provides the software that powers the system. Wayve’s foundation model manages point-to-point driving in a variety of contexts with human-like response and adaptability by utilizing generative AI and real-world experience data.

Nissan explained that Wayve’s software enables its cars to quickly learn from large datasets, enabling them to continuously advance and adjust to novel situations. The partnership will facilitate the broad implementation of autonomous driving capabilities in upcoming Nissan automobiles.
