On September 5, the German luxury vehicle manufacturer Mercedes-Maybach is scheduled to introduce its all-electric EQS SUV in India. It will be the most costly electric vehicle produced by the firm in India when it launches. Although the specifics remain undisclosed, we anticipate its release in the 680 configuration, which made its debut at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show in China in April.
Similar to the EQS 580 SUV, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 has an all-wheel-drive system with two motors when driven abroad. With a 107.8kWh battery pack, the two motors can produce a maximum torque of 950Nm and 649bhp, and a 600km range is stated. The car can accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds thanks to the fine-tuned powertrain—0.2 seconds quicker than the EQS 580. Its stated maximum speed is 210 km/h.
The EQS’s dimensions are 2,034 mm in width, 1,725 mm in height, and 5,125 mm in length. The Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 has a black panel front with 3D vertical chrome-plated bars on a radiator grille and chrome accents on the front bumper in addition to the recognisable Mercedes-Benz 3-pointed star emblem on the hood. The SUV is adorned with Maybach badging on the D-pillar, EQS writing on the front window, and glossy trimmings on the door handles, pillars, window surrounds, and running boards around its flanks.
Large wheel arches, distinctive Maybach alloy wheels, an animated LED light strip and chrome trim pieces on the tailboard and rear apron are all features of the electric car’s rear end. The EQS 680 also has possibilities for dual-tone paint jobs.
Mercedes-Maybach EQS: Features
The global-spec version is equipped with a second-row bench seat, motorised curtains, Nappa-upholstered seats, active ambient lighting with 253 LEDs and 64 customisable colours, and rear-seat infotainment controls. Additionally, it has the brand’s MBUX Hyperscreen with Maybach-specific graphics, and the front seat backrests of the rear seat are equipped with separate 11.6-inch infotainment screens for each occupant. A 15-speaker Burmester 4D surround sound system, airbags, a 360-degree camera, ADAS features, and passive electronic components with traction control, ABS, EBD, BBA, stability control, and hill hold aid are among the other components.
There are four drive modes available for the electric SUV: Eco, Sport, Offroad, and Individual. In addition, the Classic Comfort mode is replaced with the Maybach mode.
The EQS might set you back about Rs 4 crore (ex-showroom) upon launch. The EQS 680, the most costly EV, will be placed above the EQS 580 4Matic, an electric SUV with an 857-kilometer range that has been approved by ARAI.
