In March 2025, the Hyundai Creta becomes India’s top-selling model

Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) has achieved a significant milestone with its flagship SUV, the Creta, which has emerged as the top-selling model in the Indian automotive market for March 2025. Recording an impressive sale of 18,059 units during the month, the Creta continues to solidify its dominance as the most preferred SUV among Indian consumers.
Further strengthening its remarkable performance, the Hyundai Creta maintained its leadership status in the SUV category throughout the final quarter of FY 2024-25, covering January to March 2025, with a total of 52,898 units sold. For the entire fiscal year, the SUV achieved a record-breaking sales figure of 1,94,871 units, reflecting a strong 20% year-on-year growth—the highest annual sales figure since the model was introduced.
Reflecting on this achievement, Mr. Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and Chief Operating Officer at Hyundai Motor India Ltd., expressed pride in the Creta’s ongoing success, stating that its position as the highest-selling model in March 2025 and its continued leadership in the SUV space highlights the deep emotional connect the vehicle shares with Indian buyers. He emphasized that with over 1.2 million Cretas now on Indian roads and a legacy built over a decade, the vehicle represents innovation, trust, and dependability. Mr. Garg also noted that SUVs now account for 68.5% of HMIL’s total domestic sales for FY 2024-25, up from 63.2% in the previous fiscal year, a growth attributed in large part to the strong demand for the Creta and the introduction of its electric variant.
A noticeable trend during FY 2024-25 has been the increasing customer inclination towards feature-rich options. Variants equipped with sunroofs made up 69% of the total Creta sales, while models with connected features contributed 38% of the volume. The top trims commanded 24% of total internal combustion engine variant sales and a striking 71% of Creta Electric sales, underlining a clear shift in consumer preference toward premium and technologically advanced vehicles.
The introduction of the Creta Electric has broadened the model’s reach and reinforced Hyundai’s commitment to green mobility. Celebrating ten years since its initial launch in 2015, the Hyundai Creta has continued to define customer aspirations and remains a symbol of style, trust, and modernity in India’s ever-evolving automotive landscape.
