In less than a decade after going on sale, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has declared that the Ertiga MPV has sold one million units in India. Despite the MPV market’s recent decline in popularity as SUVs have become more and more popular, the Ertiga has long been the market leader.
Despite other brands’ attempts to distract from it, the Ertiga persevered while their MPVs saw poor sales. With a market share of 37.5%, the Ertiga easily dominates the midsize MPV sector. Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, remarked on the Ertiga’s triumph and recent achievement.
“The Ertiga has revolutionized the MPV market by introducing a sleek and cutting-edge model. Young, tech-savvy consumers who enjoy spending time with friends and family and creating shared experiences at every turn have made it their first option.
The biggest automaker in the nation has reported that the percentage of new Ertiga buyers has increased to 41%, although 66% of buyers say they have a set preference for a seven-seater vehicle for their families. The brand claims that there have been many buyers of the top-spec versions as well.
A seven-inch Smartplay Pro touchscreen infotainment system with an Arkamys sound system and wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a multi-info display with turn-by-turn navigation, Suzuki Connect with over 40 features, remote air conditioning, automatic headlights, cruise control, machined dual-tone alloy wheels, a multifunctional steering wheel, and more are included in the equipment list.
To increase its utility and practicality factor, it also has air-cooled cup holders, a large bootspace, a front-row armrest with a utility box, bottle holders, and accessory sockets in each row; a second-row roof-mounted air conditioning system for rear passengers with multiple adjustable air vents and a three-stage speed control; and third-row seats that can be folded down and retracted.
A 1.5L four-cylinder Dual Jet Dual VVT K-series petrol engine with mild hybrid technology is used for performance. It comes with a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission with paddle shifters or a manual gearbox. It claims to have a fuel efficiency of up to 20.51 km/l, compared to 26.11 km/kg for the CNG version. Additionally, India exports the Ertiga to more than 80 nations.
