BYD has given its consumers more options as the electric vehicle (EV) market in India continues to grow. In order to do this, BYD Seal, an electric sedan, has been introduced in India. Along with Seal, BYD’s current lineup includes the Atto 3 SUV and e6 MPV. For a while, reservations for the same were available for the low cost of Rs. 1.25 lakh.

Specifications, performance, and range of the BYD Seal:

The BYD Seal electric sedan is offered in Europe as well as other international markets. There are three versions available in India: Dynamic, Premium, and Performance. The starting price for the BYD Seal is Rs. 41 lakh for the Dynamic variation, Rs. 45.55 lakh for the mid-spec Premium variant, and Rs. 53 lakh (ex-showroom tax) for the top-spec Performance model.

The Performance model has two motors and an AWD layout, while the other two are RWD. The other two receive a larger 82.5 kWh battery pack, while Base Dynamic receives a 61.4 kWh battery pack with a 510 km range. Premium’s best-case scenario range is 650 km due to its RWD-only design, while Performance is claimed to reach 580 km on a single charge in accordance with CLTC requirements.

Superior quality The BYD Seal Performance AWD model produces 670 Nm and 530 PS together. The maximum speed is 180 km/h, and it takes only 3.8 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h. Up to 150 kW of DC fast charging is supported for the BYD Seal AWD model. Among other things, BYD is providing a 7kW home charger with installation, a 3kW portable charger, and a 6-year RSA.

While it takes 37 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%, it only takes 26 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%. BYD Seal offers the ability to charge a number of tools and equipment with its Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality. The Toyota Camry-sized Seal EV undercuts the Camry, which is the only hybrid ICE car with standard front-wheel drive.

Dimensions and features of the BYD Seal:

With a length of 4,800 mm, users can expect an impressive road presence with BYD Seal. The sedan measures 1,875 mm in width, 1,460 mm in height, and 2,920 mm in wheelbase. With a 400-liter boot and a 53-liter front boot, there is enough of storage. The vehicle weighs almost 2.2 tons at a curb.

BYD Seal claims one of the lowest drag coefficients (Cd) in the world, at 0.219. The drag coefficient of the Tesla Model S is 0.208, for comparison. Not only does the low drag coefficient improve range, it also contributes to the sedan’s stunning appearance.

With heated and ventilated seats and leather-wrapped interiors, BYD Seal promises an opulent ride. A 15.6-inch electrically rotatable touchscreen, a 10.25-inch TFT full LCD instrument panel, a panoramic sunroof, voice commands, wireless smartphone charging, and head-up display are a few more features.

The safety package comes with an extensive list of ADAS features. Additionally, the sedan is guaranteed by a 5-star Euro NCAP crash test rating. Customers may feel secure knowing that the battery, motor, and controller are covered for 8 years or 1,60,000 km, and the DC-DC assembly, OBC, and high-voltage electric control are covered for 6 years or 1,50,000 km.
