Some people today really went the extra mile this year on Halloween, including Christian Massa. The 27-year-old Actor and Entrepreneur decided to go above and beyond and dressed up as Max Dennison from the 1993 cult classic Hocus Pocus.
Hocus Pocus fans are saying that this was the best Max Dennison costume they’ve ever seen. Massa didn’t only try to create your every day Max Dennison look with the traditional green bomber jacket and hat, no Christian actually got his hands on the actual jacket Max wore in the movie. Christian even posted a “who wore it better” picture on his Instagram profile comparing side by side pictures of them both wearing the jacket.
Hocus Pocus is the classic hit movie from 1993 written by Neil Cuthbert and Mick Garrisstarring Bette Midler as Winifred Sanderson, Sarah Jessica Parker as Sarah Sanderson, and Kathy Najimy as Mary Sanderson. The movie is about three witches who are brought back from the dead by a new kid who moves from Los Angeles, California to Salem, Massachusetts known as Max Denison. Dennison who lights a candle known as “the Black Flame Candle” in the old Sanderson house. By lighting the candle it brings the witches back from hell. Hocus Pocus become to fans as a “cult movie” that is played repeatedly throughout October.
Christan Massa was seen in Salem Massachusetts on Halloween wearing the amazing costume of Max Denison alongside actor Nick Swardson who was also dressed up for the occasion as the infamous witch Winifred Sanderson. Both actors were seen taking pictures with multiple hocus pocus fans in downtown Salem. Fans are saying Nick and Christian were walking around with other hocus pocus characters such as Sarah and Mary Sanderson and even Billy Butcherson was there. Christians brother, filmmaker Joe Massa was also seen walking around downtown Salem dressed up as Gomez Addams from the Addams Family.
Mentioned in a tweet – Christian has been going to Salem Massachusetts since he was five years old with his brother Joe. They always dress up in unique cosutmes and this year Christian wanted to go as somebody from his all-time favorite movie Hocus Pocus. Massa chose Max Denison. He mentions that he found a collector who had the actual jacket Max wore in the movie and he had to have it. Along with the jacket, he has two of Winifred Sandersons book props from the movie which are near to impossible to find.
It has been 26 years since the movie Hocus Pocus has premiered in Los Angeles, Californa and fans are still going crazy over it every October. Hocus Pocus continues to be the number one Halloween movie of all time. Actress and star of Hocus Pocus Sarah Jessica Parker replied to a fan on her Instagram profile picture who asks if they ever plan on doing a sequel to the movie. Parker mentions “we have all said yes to a sequel and now we wait”.
