Global Outage Affects Sony’s PlayStation Network, Thousands Report Connectivity Problems

The PlayStation Store, online multiplayer, and even account management are all difficult for PS5 and PS4 users to access. On February 7, at approximately 5:20 p.m. ET (3:50 a.m. IST today), the interruption was initially reported on Downdetector. The number of complaints peaked at 5:49 p.m. ET (4:19 a.m. IST).
Users Cannot Use Online Functionalities
Many gamers were anticipating using PlayStation’s online services as they made their way home from work or school at the time of the outage. Customers complained about issues accessing account administration tabs, connecting to buddy lists, and making purchases on the PlayStation Store and PlayStation Direct. On its official PlayStation Network page, Sony acknowledged the issue and said, “We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”

All PlayStation devices, including the PS5, PS4, PS Vita, and PS3, were affected by the PSN outage.Users were having trouble accessing account administration sections, connecting to buddy lists, and making purchases via PlayStation Direct and the PlayStation Store.
The error message that appeared for those attempting to log in stated that the “PlayStation Network is currently undergoing maintenance (WS-37432-9).”
What’s Not Functioning?
Account Management: Consumers are unable to view or modify their accounts.
PlayStation Store: No downloads, purchases, or browsing are available.
Gaming & Social Features: No messaging, social media, or online multiplayer.
Purchases of material and streaming are affected by PlayStation Direct and PlayStation Video.
Affected Consoles
All PlayStation devices, including the PS5, PS4, PS3, PS Vita, and web-based platforms, were affected by the service outage. Those who tried to log in were greeted with the error notice “PlayStation Network is currently undergoing maintenance (WS-37432-9).”
Sony has not yet offered an explanation
Sony has not yet disclosed the cause of the outage or the date on which services will be completely restored.Nearly 70,000 people had reported the issue on Downdetector by 6:00 p.m. ET (4:30 a.m. IST today), demonstrating the problem’s broad nature.
Whether this disruption was caused by maintenance, technological issues, or something else entirely is still unknown.
