Bollywood stars Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor brought back memories for their fans by imitating their dance routine from the hugely popular song “Dil To Pagal Hai.” On the TV reality program “Dance Deewane,” the two performers performed to the music of “Dance of Envy.”
Colors TV posted a video of Madhuri and Karisma’s performance on social media. Madhuri looked stunning in her yellow attire, and Karisma looked fierce in a black saree. Judge of the dancing reality program Suneil Shetty applauded the two stars as they danced.
Suneil stated, “The greatest dancing stars of our industry and country” following their performance. People used to be crazy over you two, and they still are. Tab bhi aap dono ke liye dil pagal thi, aaj bhi hai.”
Social media users applauded Karisma and Madhuri as soon as the video was posted. “Still the same energy (sic)” said one of them. Someone else remarked, “Seems like it was yesterday..they still look young omg… (sic)” . A post appeared on Instagram saying, “Two OG legends together (sic).” Some fans were reminded of Shah Rukh Khan’s role in “Dil To Pagal Hai.”
Madhuri’s dancer character Maya was paired with Karisma’s Nisha in the Aditya Chopra movie. Upon receiving the film’s offer, Karisma was hesitant to dance with Madhuri, who is frequently referred to as the “Dancing Queen” of Bollywood.
In 2021, Karisma said during her participation in the singing reality show “Indian Idol,” “Every single actress rejected the movie (Dil To Pagal Hai). I was given the job; it was a dance movie and I was paired with Madhuri Dixit. “No, how can we dance alongside Madhuri Dixit ji,” everyone said. At first, I turned it down as well because it was a dance movie and Madhuri Dixit was competing. “This isn’t happening,” I declared.
“Yash ji and Adi (Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra) narrated the story to me,” Karisma continued. “You have to accept the challenge,” my mother said to me. You have to do it as you are a huge Madhuri Dixit fan. You’ll shine because you work hard.”
As a result, Karisma accepted the part and went on to win the 1998 National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress.
