ChatGPT’s GPT-4o powered by OpenAI feels like AI from movies, according to Altman

Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, highlighted key components of the most recent ChatGPT release, which was released on May 13 and marked a substantial advancement in AI available for free and interface innovation.

After ChatGPT’s most recent release, Altman posted his observations on his blog. GPT-4o is an enhanced version of the artificial intelligence algorithm that drives ChatGPT, a popular generative tool. As OpenAI rolls it out globally, GPT-4o, which promises better performance and efficiency, will be freely available to all users. Some ChatGPT Plus subscribers who paid for the service were able to access GPT-4o’s text and picture functionalities; enterprise users will soon be able to access these features as well.

Just one day before Google’s I/O 2024 conference, the implementation takes place. OpenAI’s Chief Technology Officer, Mira Murati, expressed her happiness at the San Francisco event, saying, “We’re very, very excited to bring GPT-4o to all of our free users out there.”

First of all, Altman expressed pleasure in fulfilling an essential objective of OpenAI: offering the public high-capacity AI tools at no cost. “We’ve made the best model in the world available for free in ChatGPT, without ads or anything like that,” he stated. This project is in line with OpenAI’s core values, which changed from using AI to directly help society to empowering others to innovate and enjoy a variety of advantages from using OpenAI’s technology.

Although OpenAI is a for-profit organization with ambitions to launch premium services, Altman highlighted the company’s unwavering commitment to providing outstanding AI services to potentially billions of people for free.

Second, Altman praised the benefits of ChatGPT’s recently added voice and video mode, calling it the best computer interface he has ever used and comparing it to the AI featured in movies. With response speeds comparable to those of a human and a more organic, expressive interaction style, this new feature represents a substantial evolution. “It feels like AI from the movies, and it’s still a bit surprising to me that it’s real,” he said.

The changes made to this version of ChatGPT not only improve the user experience by making interactions with the computer feel more engaging and natural, but they also open the entrance for further improvements in the future, such as personalized interactions, user-specific information access, and proactive features.

OpenAI’s action improves its standing in the competitive field of AI development. It establishes a fresh standard for approachable, user-friendly AI technologies that have the potential to completely change the way we interact with digital tools in every day life.
