BYD is set to make the official premiere of the Han L sedan and Tang L SUV on Wednesday, following the start of their pre-sales last month. Both variants feature ultra-fast charging.

BYD Release Date

The Han L and Tang L will be formally introduced on April 9; a launch event will start at 7 p.m. Beijing time on that day.

Pricing Details:

Han L EV: Pre-sale price ranges from RMB 270,000 to RMB 350,000 (~$37,080 to $48,070)

Tang L EV: The pre-sale price (~$38,480 to $49,470) ranges from RMB 280,000 to RMB 360,000.

BYD’s First Flash-Charge EVs on Super e-Platform

They are the first models to be constructed on BYD’s Super e-Platform, which claims to make charging as quick as filling up a car with gas and employs a flash-charging battery that enables a 10C charging multiplier.

The business claims that the battery has the highest charging power in the world, with the capacity to charge at up to 1,000 kW (kilowatt) and with charging voltages and currents of up to 1,000 V and 1,000 A, respectively.

New EV Charging Benchmark with 1-Megawatt Supercharging

The industry has never before used MW as a unit of measurement for EV charging power, and 1,000 kW is equivalent to 1 MW (megawatt).

A 1,000 kW supercharger was then introduced by BYD, which explained that it could increase an EV’s range by two kilometers in a second or 400 kilometers in five minutes.

4,000 1-MW flash charging stations are being deployed, according to a BYD executive on March 26. The first 500 units will be operational when the Han L and Tang L SUVs go on sale in early April.

Additionally, according to BYD, the Super e-Platform boasts a brand-new high-revving engine that can spin at 30,511 revolutions per minute, the highest of any mass-produced motor worldwide.

Engine

The motor outperforms a V12 gasoline engine with a maximum output of 580 kW, the highest of any mass-produced motor worldwide.

With the Han L EV reaching 100 kilometers per hour in 2.7 seconds and the Tang L EV in 3.6 seconds, both models exhibit impressive speed.

On March 17, BYD started taking reservations for the hybrid Han L DM and Tang L DM in addition to the Han L EV and Tang L EV, although no pricing details had been made public.

The most potent versions of BYD’s DM hybrid technology will be installed in the Han L DM and Tang L DM, which can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.9 and 4.3 seconds, respectively.
