The first EVs built on BYD’s new Super e-platform, which has lightning-fast charging, were just released. Starting at around $30,000, the new Han L car and Tang L SUV can travel about 250 miles in 5 minutes.

BYD Launch Date

BYD unveiled the new EV vehicles at a launch ceremony on April 9 and asserted that its engineers had “achieved the master realm of Chinese technology.”

Ultra-Fast Charging, Lower Price, Bigger Impact

The first EVs built on BYD’s 1000V Super e-platform are the Han L and Tang L. “The ultimate solution is to make charging as quick as refueling a gasoline car,” stated Wang Chuanfu, CEO of BYD, following the announcement of the ultra-fast EV charging platform last month in an attempt to allay charging anxieties.

The new Han L from BYD comes in three trim levels and starts at just 219,800 yuan ($30,000), which is less than the 270,000 yuan ($36,800) pre-sale pricing.

Size & Presence:

About the size of a Tesla Model S (5,021 mm long, 1,987 mm wide, and 1,431 mm height), BYD’s new electric car is 5,050 mm long, 1,960 mm wide, and 1,505 mm tall.

Power Meets Range: Blade Battery & 1,000V Architecture

An 83.2 kWh BYD Blade battery powers all models, offering a CLTC driving range of up to 435 miles (701 km). The Han L has two charge guns with a maximum charge rate of 10C and is based on BYD’s 1,000V architecture.

The Electric Sedan Redefining Speed, Smart Tech & Charging Power

The electric automobile can go 400 kilometers (248 miles) in five minutes with ultra-fast charging. It can recharge the battery from 10% to 70% in six minutes and from 0% to 100% in just twenty minutes.

The Han L has BYD’s God’s Eye intelligent driving assistance system, just as all of its latest EV vehicles. It comes with the DiPilot 300 and the mid-tier “B” version.

Price

Three trim levels are also available for BYD’s new electric SUV, the Tang L. The starting price is 239,800 yuan ($32,700), which is also less than the 280,000 yuan ($38,200) pre-sale pricing.

Additionally, BYD’s 1,000V design and lightning-fast charging platform serve as the foundation for the Tang L. It can gain 230 miles (370 km) in 5 minutes and has a CLTC range of up to 435 miles (701 km) thanks to a 100.5 kWh battery. The transition from 0% to 100% will take roughly half an hour.

The new Tesla Model Y Juniper in China is only marginally larger than BYD’s electric SUV, which measures 5,040 mm in length, 1996 mm in width, and 1,760 mm in height (4,797 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,624 mm in height).

Similar to the Han L EV, the electric SUV is equipped with DiPilot 300 and BYD’s God’s Eye B ADAS technology. As PHEVs, the Han L and Tang have beginning prices of 209,800 yuan ($28,500) and 229,800 yuan ($31,300), respectively.
