The G League regular season has presented the South Bay Lakers with a number of difficulties so far. They came home on Friday after a three-game road trip with the goal of improving their miserable 1-7 record, which before their game against the Rip City Remix was the lowest in the Western Conference.

By the half, Rip City had taken a 67-58 lead, threatening South Bay with a sixth straight loss. But the Lakers came out on top in the third quarter, outscoring the Remix 31–17, which allowed them to take the lead and hold it till the very end, winning 122-110.

Playing his first game since December 21, Bronny James made his G League comeback and put up a strong showing. Even though he had a sluggish shooting start, he eventually found his rhythm, as evidenced by a strong dunk in the third quarter that gave South Bay the advantage.

He shot 5-of-11 from beyond the arc and 10-of-22 overall to finish the game with a season-high 31 points. In addition, he only had one turnover while dishing out three assists, two rebounds, and two steals.

Quincy Olivari, a rookie guard who just returned to the team after being cut from a two-way contract, had a big impact off the bench, scoring 20 points, pulling down seven rebounds, and grabbing three steals. In addition to fellow big man Trey Jemison III’s 14 points and 11 rebounds, centre Christian Koloko produced 16 points, 10 rebounds, five blocks, and two steals.

With an outstanding 32 points, Alex Reese, a power forward for the Remix who briefly played for the Oklahoma City Thunder in an NBA game in October, led the scoring chart.
