Sony Pictures has officially announced that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will swing into theaters on June 4, 2027. The revelation came during their presentation at CinemaCon, where the studio also unveiled the first-look images from the highly anticipated animated sequel.

The film is helmed by Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson, working from a screenplay written by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and David Callaham. It is being produced by Lord, Miller, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Jinko Gotoh, with Aditya Sood and Christina Steinberg serving as executive producers.

CinemaCon attendees, including theater owners, film exhibitors, and members of the press, were given an exclusive preview of the film’s first footage. The filmmakers emphasized that while the movie’s release was delayed, it was crucial for them to ensure that the final product met the incredibly high expectations set by its predecessors. Lord teased that the directors were once again pushing the boundaries of animation, while Persichetti hinted at an even more diverse blend of artistic styles. Thompson added that the movie is being meticulously crafted for large-format screens, promising a visually stunning experience.

Picking up immediately from the dramatic conclusion of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the sequel will explore the continued journey of Miles Morales, as well as the fate of his allies, including Gwen Stacy and his multiversal friends. The lingering question remains—will their combined strength be enough to save everyone?

The exclusive footage shown at CinemaCon began with an intense voiceover from Miles himself: “You can’t ask me… not to save my father.” This was followed by a mesmerizing sequence of shifting, trippy sky colors and a montage of key moments from Across the Spider-Verse, accompanied by snippets of dialogue.

The footage then showcased Miles engaging in a battle against his darker self, ultimately walking into a mysterious, shadowy tunnel while others followed closely behind. As the tension built, his powerful declaration from the previous film echoed once more: “Imma do my own thing.” The preview concluded with the bold reveal of the June 4, 2027 release date, leaving fans eager for the next chapter in Miles Morales’ multiversal adventure.
