BMW’s updated electric SUV, the 2026 iX, has been announced. After four years of production, the updated model now includes a more reasonably priced version for the US market.

The affordable trim, which was previously only available in Europe as the base xDrive40, is now known to American customers as the xDrive45.

The xDrive50 is now the xDrive60, while the M60 is now the M70. The other two models have likewise changed their names.

The Design and Personalisation Possibilities of the BMW iX

The 2026 BMW iX features new colour options, a reworked headlight with vertical daytime running lights that are slightly slanted, and an updated kidney grille with an illuminated shape.

BMW is introducing an optional M Sport Package for a more aggressive appearance for the first time.

Dune Grey, Arctic Race Blue, Carbon Black, Individual Frozen Deep Grey, and Space Silver Metallic (not for the US) are some of the new colours that can be customised.

An examination of the 2026 BMW iX’s performance

Battery packs for the entry-level iX xDrive45 are 100.1 kWh, while those for the xDrive60 and M Performance models are larger at 113.4 kWh and 112.8 kWh, respectively.

For increased efficiency, a heat pump is also included as standard equipment with all three variants.

With just one charge, the iX xDrive45 can go an amazing 502 kilometres. The EV’s two motors produce a combined 402 horsepower and 700 Nm.

Cost and Accessibility

Starting at $76,325 (about ₹66 lakh), the iX xDrive45 is $12,100 less expensive than the previous entry-level model, the xDrive50.

The mid-range trim, now known as the xDrive60, costs $89,675 (about ₹67 lakh), which is $1,250 more than the previous model.

However, the 20 horsepower increase in power over the preceding xDrive50 (total output: 536 horsepower/765 Nm) justifies the price rise.

In Europe, the xDrive60 can travel up to 710 km, but in the US, it can travel about 500 km.

The top-tier BMW iX M70 Model

With a price tag of $112,675 (about ₹84 lakh), the top-tier iX M70 now has an impressive 650 horsepower. This is a significant 40 horsepower increase over the M60 it replaces.

BMW asserts that the new model is more cost-effective than the previous one, despite the vehicle’s slightly reduced 486-kilometer range due to its performance-oriented design.

This performance-focused version costs $112,675, the same as the original M60.
