Rapid Expansion in New Haven
Avelo Airlines, one of just two airlines using Tweed-New Haven Regional Airport, will compete directly with Breeze Airways on flights to Jacksonville (JAX), but not on three of the four new routes.
Breeze Airways will also start operating flights to and from Tweed-New Haven Regional Airport later this week, but Avelo Airlines currently holds a monopoly there. With flights to Orlando (MCO), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Tampa (TPA), West Palm Beach (PBI), Fort Myers (RSW), Daytona Beach (DAB), and Sarasota (SRQ), Avelo Airlines is well-represented in the market for flights to Florida.
Andrew Levy, the founder and CEO of Avelo Airlines, praised the growth, adding,
Avelo Airlines’ Growing Route Network
Following its development in North Carolina, Avelo Airlines has added new routes from Tweed-New Haven Regional Airport. Wilmington International Airport (ILM) and Concord-Padgett Regional Airport (USA) will be the carrier’s two new sites in the state.
Additionally, a new international route from Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Connecticut to Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) in the Dominican Republic has been announced by Avelo Airlines. The airline recently started operating to Cancún foreign Airport (CUN) and Montego Bay Sangster International Airport (MBJ). The twice-weekly route, which opened on February 21st, 2025, will be the company’s third foreign route from Bradley International Airport.
