Tamannaah Bhatia recently became the muse for celebrated designer duo Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, stunning in an ensemble that showcased their signature maximalist aesthetic. She donned a beautifully embellished Bandhani kurta paired with a crushed silk skirt and a matching dupatta, epitomizing timeless elegance.
The kurta, crafted from Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla’s iconic crushed silk fabric, stood out with its exquisite gold embroidery. Featuring a round neckline and short sleeves, the kurta was adorned with intricate embroidery on the bodice and sleeves, with a tasselled hemline that added a touch of opulence. This richly detailed piece was paired with a vibrant red crushed silk skirt, enhancing the grandeur while maintaining balance. Completing the outfit was a Bandhani dupatta, embellished with similar gold embroidery, tying the entire look together seamlessly.
Crushed silk, a hallmark of the designers’ creations for over three decades, is made from pure silk, which naturally contains starch, allowing the fabric to maintain its unique texture. Speaking about their signature technique, Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla shared, “We have always used the purest materials. The luxury of flowing fabrics like Khadi silk, Mysore chiffons, crepe de chines, and Tussar silks has been central to our designs. Our crushed silk, introduced in Bandhani and Churi sleeves, quickly became a sensation.”
This particular ensemble, inspired by Mughal ‘Sehra’ aesthetics, featured intricate handcrafting with rubies, pearls, emeralds, Gota work, sequins, and antique Zardozi embroidery. The sleeves were accented with real pearl tassels, adding movement and an element of timeless luxury.
Tamannaah expressed her admiration for the designers, saying, “Whenever I wear Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, I feel transported to another world. Their glamour and grace are unmatched, making me feel not just beautiful but truly seen.”
Styled by Who Wore What When, Tamannaah’s look was accessorized with bold, stacked bangles on both wrists. She opted for minimal accessories and styled her hair in a bun, striking the perfect balance between maximalism and sophistication.
