Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya brought their latest film, Sky Force, to theatres on January 24, aligning with the Republic Day celebrations. Despite collecting a net total of ₹113.60 crores domestically and grossing ₹149.99 crores worldwide, the film failed to succeed commercially due to its substantial ₹160 crore budget. Initially, Sky Force was made available on an OTT platform on a rental basis, but preparations have now been finalized for its free streaming release. Directed by Abhishek Anil Kapoor and Sandeep Kewlani, the film features a stellar cast including Nimrat Kaur and Sara Ali Khan, along with Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya. The storyline revolves around the 1965 air strike between India and Pakistan, where the Indian Air Force carried out a strategic bombing of Pakistan’s Sargodha airbase.

Currently, Sky Force can be rented on Amazon Prime Video, but from March 21, 2025, it will be freely accessible for all subscribers on the platform. The film tells the compelling tale of Squadron Leader T Vijay, played by Veer Pahariya, whose sacrifices became instrumental during the Indo-Pak war of 1965. The conflict escalated when Pakistan launched an aggressive attack on Indian Air Force bases using advanced fighter jets acquired from the United States. Wing Commander Kumar Om Ahuja, portrayed by Akshay Kumar, was entrusted with the crucial mission to strike back. However, the Indian Air Force was at a disadvantage, operating with less advanced aircraft compared to Pakistan’s powerful fleet. Against all odds, Wing Commander Ahuja and his team executed a daring assault on the heavily fortified Sargodha Airbase, successfully destroying multiple enemy planes. Tragedy struck during the mission when Squadron Leader T Vijay failed to return, with reports indicating his aircraft had been downed. Unable to accept the loss of his trusted comrade, Wing Commander Ahuja embarked on a relentless quest to find him.

Produced under the banners of Jio Studios and Maddock Films, Sky Force features a talented ensemble cast that brings the gripping war drama to life. Alongside the lead actors, the film stars Sharad Kelkar, Mohit Chauhan, Manish Chaudhary, Varun Badola, Virendra Singh, Anupam Jordaar, Jaywant Wadkar, and Soham Majumdar.
