According to reports, Google is preparing to release a new feature that would let Android users to connect to and switch between their devices without any hassle.
Which operating system—Android or iOS—is superior is a constant topic of discussion. While both operating systems are feature-rich and place a strong emphasis on user privacy and security, Apple has an advantage because to its streamlined device ecosystem. Apple’s Continuity features enable consumers to easily utilize and move between their iPhones, MacBooks, watches, and iPads. Now, to compete with this, it is said that Google is preparing to roll out a comparable feature that would let Android users link their numerous Android devices.
Google will soon enable Android users to connect their Android devices together provided they are logged into the same Google account, claims Android specialist Mishaal Rahman. Users will be able to connect their Android devices with one another using the new functionality, which also supports simple call switching and internet sharing.
The ability to “link your [Android] devices” that are both signed into the same Google account may soon be available. “Call switching” and “Internet sharing” will be possible as a result, allowing you to switch between devices for calls,” he tweeted on X.
Users will be able to smoothly switch between connected devices while on a call thanks to the “Call Switching” functionality. The “Internet Sharing” feature is another function that makes it easier to create a personal hotspot across all connected devices.
When the feature is formally deployed, according to Rahman, the menu for pairing devices will show up under Settings > Google > Devices & Sharing on the device.
Notably, iPhone Mobile Calls from Apple already has a comparable call-switching feature. Users of Apple devices can call and be called from other devices using the same Apple ID as long as they are connected to the same network as the user’s iPhone thanks to this functionality.
Users cannot, however, accept calls from another iPhone using Apple’s iPhone Mobile Calls function. On the other hand, Rahman’s screenshot of Google’s Call Switching functionality reveals the potential for switching between various Android devices, including phones and even the Pixel Tablet. Although it is not guaranteed until Google makes an official announcement, people who carry multiple phones might find this feature beneficial.
According to a report by the Android Authority, the feature will probably be made available through Google Play Services. Therefore, when this function launches, those who have a device with the Google Play Store pre-installed might be the first to use it.
A native translation capability for Gmail for Android and iOS devices has now been made available by Google, according to other sources. Users may translate emails into 100 different languages using this tool, which was previously only available on the desktop version of Gmail.
According to Google’s blog post, users must select the “Translate” option from the three-dot overflow menu in the top-right corner of an email in order to translate a message on a mobile device. Users have the option of choosing their preferred output language in the settings, which will notify them when email content deviates from the “Gmail display language.” Additionally, users have the option to disable translation for a certain language, which is advantageous for bilingual people.
