He’s been recognized as a “Crowd Mover” and, as a result, one of the most sought-after DJs in town, thanks to his scratching abilities and willingness to make mash-up mixes with all genres of music, including Hip Hop, Reggae, Rock, R&B, and Pop. Prince, Hugh Hefner, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Lopez, Kevin Hart, J.Cole, Nicki Minaj, Meek Mill, and NBA superstars Michael Jordan and LeBron James have all been seen spinning alongside him. Mark Da Spot attends events such as the NBA All-Star Weekend, the Espys, the CIAA, SXSW, the Pro-Bowl, the Essence Festival, the Oscars, and BET Weekend every year.
His time in the Bronx
His career was greatly affected by his time spent in the Bronx. Mark Da spent the bulk of his youth in Ceder Park, known as hip hop’s birthplace. His fascination with DJing began when he saw his uncles perform. DJ Mark was intrigued by how they had a real influence on the audience, mostly made up of Caribbean citizens. That’s when he learned that Djing is a skill he’ll need to know if he wants to command a crowd. Seeing and being around characters like Kid Capari, Fat Joe, and Big Pun, to name a couple, was also really inspiring since Mark was able to see Djing and playing from the eyes of a professional.
Marks’ encounter with Justin Timberlake
He used to own a limo service, and Justin Timberlake was one of his customers. Justin was enthralled by his personalized vehicles, and Mark believes this turned him into a loyal customer. He’d hand Justin his mixtape CDs, which he’d listen to when chauffeuring him around New York. One day, the music group Nsync invited him to DJ an MTV after-party. Despite the fact that Mark had been DJing for a long time, that was his first pop star appointment, but Mark Da Spot ensured he was prepared. He became Justin’s full-time Chauffeur and DJ after that incident. They toured together, and when Justin Timberlake decided to relocate to Los Angeles, he invited Mark to accompany him. Mark traveled to the west coast in this manner. Through chauffeuring Justin Timberlake around the world, he became acquainted with the Hollywood region and industry. They worked together for around eight years, and when Justin moved to the West Coast to start his acting career, Mark decided to DJ and network.
Working with BET’s 106 & Park provided him with several unforgettable encounters. When Mark was willing to carry DJ Mustard to the show to DJ alongside him, it was one of his best memories. Mark recalls him as a young man who was ecstatic to DJ on such a stage. Helping new musicians achieve their goals is still a memorable moment because he would not be where he is now if others hadn’t given him the opportunity. 106 & Park, on the other hand, he believes could return. Their everyday material and energies are incredible, and Mark feels that is just what the planet requires right now.
