Today he is going to talk to us on how social media affects the life of the youth.
When it comes to social media, there are several social media networks that are quite popular nowadays such as facebook, instagram, twitter, linked in, ect.. With the fast growing advancement of technology, social media have started taking over and becoming a part of the life of the young generation as well as the old, rich and poor. In fact social media has made the world a “Global Village”. According to his point of view, most people use these social media networks without knowing the impact of it after using. It can probably be positive or negative unless its focused on businesses or any other professional goal.
Social media has a positive impact on the youth in different sectors. It can be educational, social, political, and professional. Social media gives them the opportunity for distance learning or we call it e-learning. With this they can follow any course or degree of their choice from anywhere in the world. Most of all it allows them to reconnect with their friends from anywhere in the world, communicate with them, share their ideas, make new friends, find their old friends just by entering their name. And also it allows them to check any updates of their friends, post any of their new updates, or show off any of their talents through social media. On the other hand, social media has provided many job opportunities for people. Most of the young generation earn a considerable amount of money by engaging in online businesses through social media. Another positive aspect is that they are able to get information and news from around the world much faster from social media rather than other forms of media because news on social media spreads much faster.
Further Thilina pointed out that there is also a negative impact of social media that affects the youth badly. Cyber bullying is one of the major problems he added. Some people may use social media to bully someone in public by posting any confidential information about them or misusing their photos or sending intimidate messages. This can affect the youth mentally.
In order to minimize these negative aspects of social media, its better to use social media wisely in a productive way he concluded.
