Kia India has officially revealed the name of its eagerly awaited compact SUV, the Syros, ending weeks of speculation. Scheduled to make its grand debut on December 19, 2024, the Kia Syros aims to bridge the gap between the Sonet and the Seltos in the company’s domestic portfolio. Positioned within the fiercely competitive five-seater compact SUV segment, the Syros promises to deliver a fresh option for buyers.

Designed to offer greater dimensions and a larger footprint than the Sonet, the Syros emphasizes improved interior space and enhanced practicality. Teaser images highlight its bold front-end design, featuring a vertically stacked LED projector headlamp arrangement paired with sleek vertical LED DRLs. Drawing design inspiration from models like the EV9 and Soul, the Syros boasts a futuristic yet functional aesthetic.

This sub-four-meter SUV showcases upright pillars and a flat roofline, with the promise of optimizing interior roominess for a spacious and comfortable cabin. At the rear, distinctive L-shaped LED tail lamps blend seamlessly with the vehicle’s pillars, enhancing its boxy and commanding silhouette. The Syros is expected to be powered by three engine options: a 1.0L turbocharged three-cylinder petrol, a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol, and a 1.5L four-cylinder diesel.

Transmission options are anticipated to include a six-speed manual gearbox and a dual-clutch automatic transmission. Inside, the Syros will be equipped with cutting-edge features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, alongside a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

The features list will extend to ventilated front seats, a multi-layered dashboard design, automatic climate control, and a panoramic sunroof. Advanced safety and convenience technologies such as ADAS, six standard airbags, ESC, EPB, traction control, a 360-degree camera system, wireless charging, rear AC vents, and adjustable headrests are also part of the package.

Looking forward, the Kia Syros could expand its lineup with hybrid and fully electric powertrain options, positioning itself as a versatile and forward-thinking offering in the compact SUV market.
