With the introduction of its ‘Born Electric’ SUVs, the XEV 9e and BE 6e, Mahindra has created a significant impact in the electric vehicle (EV) market.

At Chennai’s Mahindra Research Valley, the cars were showcased.

The cars, which are based on Mahindra’s exclusive INGLO platform and are specifically designed for EVs, will go on sale in January 2025, with delivery beginning in February.

The base version of the XEV 9e costs ₹21.90 lakh (ex-showroom), while the BE 6e starts at ₹18.90 lakh (ex-showroom).

XEV 9e Stands out for its coupe Design

The XEV 9e features a sloping roofline, strong cuts, and a sleek, aerodynamic coupe-SUV design.

For a futuristic appearance, it has a full-width LED light bar, flared wheel arches and a strong triangular headlight arrangement.

The BE 6e, on the other hand, has a more sculptural appearance with a sleek front end, integrated inverted L-shaped DRLs, and sharp lines that give it an aggressive and contemporary design language.

Battery and Performance of Mahindra’s Electric SUVs

Both SUVs have two LFP-chemistry battery options: 59kWh and 79kWh. A real-world range of up to 550 km is promised with the bigger battery pack.

With a 175kW DC charger, these EVs can be charged quickly, reaching from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes.

The powertrain of the XEV 9e and BE 6e can produce up to 288 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque, allowing them to reach a top speed of 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds.

Interior and Connectivity

For the driver, central infotainment, and passenger, the XEV 9e has a huge 43-inch triple screen arrangement. A dual 12.3-inch floating screen arrangement is included with the BE 6e.

Mahindra’s Auto-Adjusting HUD Vision, ambient lighting with 16 million colours, and an illuminated infinity roof that changes in response to vehicle speed are some of its distinctive features.

A five-link rear suspension and an iLink front suspension are features of both variants.

With wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as smart connected car capabilities, connectivity is smooth.

Take a look at Additional Features

Premium amenities like rain-sensing wipers, auto headlights, cooled console storage, and push-button start/stop are standard on the XEV 9e and BE 6e.

Both models have six airbags, an HD reverse camera, driver drowsiness detection, all-wheel disc brakes and a tyre pressure monitoring system for added safety.

Mahindra also provides three drive modes, AutoPark, Driver-Initiated Lane Change Assist, and a lifetime battery guarantee for first-time owners, followed by a 10-year or 200,000-kilometer warranty for future owners.
