Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty in the 97th minute gave Al-Nassr a thrilling 2-1 victory over Al-Shabab in the Saudi Pro League on Friday. Aymeric Laporte of Al-Nassr scored the first goal in the 69th minute, bringing the game to life after a slow first half in which neither team created many chances.

However, Ali Al-Hassan’s own goal in the 90th minute gave Al-Shabab a huge comeback in the game.

When injuries occurred in the second half, the game appeared to be edging towards a draw once more. Al-Nassr was awarded a penalty after Robert Renan fouled Abdulrahman Ghareeb inside the box, and Ronaldo quickly turned it into a score in the seventh minute of stoppage time. Ronaldo scored his sixth goal of the current Saudi Pro League campaign.

The referee showed Mohamed Simakan of Al-Nassr a red card in the 12th minute of stoppage time for fouling Nader Al-Sharari inside the box, but that wasn’t the end of the drama.

Late in the game, Al-Shabab had a fantastic opportunity to tie the score from the spot, but Abderrazak Hamdallah was unable to handle the pressure and hit the woodwork, allowing Al-Nassr to triumph thrillingly.
