The Redmi Watch 5 Active is set to make its debut in India soon, as announced by the company on Thursday. This new wearable will feature a slightly larger display compared to its predecessor, along with an extended battery life, ensuring users can go longer between charges. As the launch date approaches, the company has started to unveil some of the key specifications of this fitness tracker. The previous model, the Redmi Watch 3, which launched in India in August 2023, is compatible with both iOS and Android devices.
The official launch date for the Redmi Watch 5 Active in India is set for August 27, according to a landing page on the company’s website. The page also hints that the device will be available in at least two color options. On the same day, Xiaomi, the parent company of Redmi, is also expected to introduce the Xiaomi X Pro QLED TV series in India.
In the lead-up to the launch, the company has revealed some of the features of the Redmi Watch 5 Active. The wearable will come with a 2-inch display, a noticeable upgrade from the 1.48-inch screen on the Redmi Watch 3 Active, which was released last year. However, it remains unclear whether the screen will use LCD technology like its predecessor.
In terms of battery life, the Redmi Watch 5 Active is expected to surpass the Watch 3 Active, which offered up to 12 days of usage on a single charge. The upcoming model is anticipated to provide up to 18 days of battery life. Additionally, the new watch will introduce a Clear+ Calling feature, designed to enhance call quality for users in noisy environments, building on the previous model’s capability to make and receive calls via a connected smartphone.
On the software side, the Redmi Watch 5 Active will run on Xiaomi’s HyperOS skin and include support for voice commands through Amazon’s Alexa assistant. The fitness tracker will also be capable of monitoring over 140 sport modes, making it a versatile companion for fitness enthusiasts. As the August 27 launch date nears, more details about the Redmi Watch 5 Active are expected to be revealed.
