The Lubrizol Corporation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to acquire a 120-acre site in Aurangabad, India, for the construction of a new manufacturing facility. This project, representing an initial investment of approximately US$ 200 million, is Lubrizol’s largest in India to date and builds on its long-standing investment in the region. Upon completion, the plant will be Lubrizol’s second-largest manufacturing facility worldwide and its largest in India, with phased construction allowing for future expansion.

Flavio Kliger, President of Lubrizol Additives, highlighted the company’s significant investments in India over the past five decades, noting that the new facility will boost local capacity and capabilities for their Additives business, with potential future support for other Lubrizol sectors.

This announcement is part of Lubrizol’s strategy to accelerate growth and enhance its “local-for-local” capacity in India. In 2023, the company pledged a US$ 150 million investment to build the world’s largest CPVC resin plant in Vilayat, Gujarat, expand its Dahej facility, establish a grease lab in Navi Mumbai, and promote job growth and innovation within the country. Additionally, Lubrizol opened its first Global Capability Center in Pune to further support regional growth and collaboration.

Bhavana Bindra, Managing Director of Lubrizol IMEA, emphasized the company’s commitment to local manufacturing, regional innovation, and investment in local talent. She expressed Lubrizol’s dedication to being a partner in progress for its customers and a catalyst for growth and innovation.

Nitin Mengi, Vice President of Lubrizol Additives IMEA and Chairman & Managing Director of Lubrizol India Private Limited, underscored the significant opportunities presented by India’s growing transportation and industrial markets. He expressed excitement about Lubrizol’s role in the future of these industries.

The new Aurangabad site will not only meet domestic demand but also enable exports to neighboring countries and other Lubrizol locations. The commencement of manufacturing at this facility is expected to align with Lubrizol’s 100th anniversary in 2028.
