Sony’s next smartphone in the Xperia series will be released in a smaller version; however, given its purported specifications, it is unlikely to be the 5 VI. To begin with, the screen is expected to measure 6.0 inches diagonally instead of the OEM’s customary 6.1 inches.
Additionally, the panel—which is claimed to be OLED “with anti-reflection coating”—has a refresh rate of 120Hz and a higher-end resolution of 2K. It looks that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC from the Xperia 1 VI will power that display.
It is also thought to include a 1-inch camera sensor, although one with 50MP resolution, unlike the 1 VI. Shockingly, it’s supposedly from OmniVision and may enable up to 14-bit RAW captures in addition to having OIS.
On the other hand, if not all of the enhanced zoom capabilities of the 1 VI, its other 2 12MP rear cameras may enable more Sony-like features like S-Cinetone for up to 4K/120fps, 10-bit images. This may be the reason for the smartphone’s rumoured launch date of the Xperia Pro C, an unexpectedly compact Pro-I replacement.
It is also thought to include a 5,000mAh battery with remarkably quick 45W charging—unusual for a Sony device of this size. However, given that the Pro-I is still selling for $898 on Amazon almost three years after it debuted, that set of specs in a small form factor may result in a curiously huge price tag.
