According to the Wall Street Journal, social networking company Meta will launch the web version of Threads, an app that competes with Twitter/X, next week.
Despite the fact that the company’s intentions aren’t set in stone and could alter, the article stated that Meta intends to release the web version of Threads early the next week. The fact that Threads was created with mobile phone users in mind means that access to certain of the postings has been restricted.
The web version of Threads is currently being evaluated internally, according to Adam Mosseri, CEO of Threads and Instagram, who also verified this last week. Mosseri stated in response to a comment on Threads, “We’re working on it! For the past week or so, we have been internally testing an early version. However, it still need more work before we can make it accessible to everyone.
A following tab and the ability for users to confirm a link with their Mastodon profile are recent additions to Threads’ feature set. According to the WSJ report, Threads began labeling state-controlled media organizations as of Thursday in an effort to curb misinformation and propaganda.
Threads keeps losing momentum:
On July 5, the social networking platform Threads was introduced in an effort to compete with social media site X and win over some of the users who were upset by the modifications made by Elon Musk, the company’s owner. The social network app was enthusiastically greeted by users, and in less than a week, it reached the milestone of 100 million monthly active users. However, according to SimialrWeb data from August 7, active users on Threads have dropped to somewhere around the 10 million mark.
Comparatively, Insider Intelligence calculated that X gets about 363.7 million active users each month. X stated that it has 237.8 million daily active users in its most recent quarterly earnings, which were released in July of last year.
