In the midst of an uproar over the teaser for the movie, Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has come out in support of Adipurush and its director Om Raut. MNS leader Ameya Khopkar criticised the BJP leaders’ threat to prevent the film from being released and questioned whether Ram Kadam had actually seen Ravana. One of the reasons the trailer has drawn criticism is Saif Ali Khan’s portrayal of Ravana.

The MNS leader asserted that Om Raut was a genuine “hindutvawadi” who couldn’t damage religious emotions and who planned and carried out a laser show that told the story of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. “You’re stopping this movie after only watching the trailer and because of your immoral politics. Beyond politics, they must think. This sort of unethical politics is not tolerated by MNS. It’s pretty simple to declare that we don’t like this movie, but 400 to 500 people get their food from it. MNS respects all faiths, whether they be Muslim or Hindu. For us, there is no distinction. If you merely see the teaser, you won’t be able to determine if it’s correct or wrong, therefore watch the movie first before making a choice.”
The leader of MNS declared that the movie will be released and that MNS would not accept any “gundagardi.”
On October 2, the teaser for the Prabhas-starring movie was released in Ayodhya, where it immediately sparked a political controversy.
