Akasa Air was given the Air Operator Certificate by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation two weeks ago, allowing it to start doing business.
The newest airline in India, Akasa Air, has begun selling tickets for its 28 weekly flights between Bengaluru and Kochi and Mumbai-Ahmedabad. The Rakesh Jhunjhunwala-promoted airline announced in a statement that services from Mumbai will begin on August 7 and those from Bengaluru will begin six days later. With two new Boeing 737 Max aircraft—one of which has already been delivered and the other is due to arrive later this month—Akasa Air will begin conducting commercial flights.
Bookings can be made via the mobile app, the website (www.akasaair.com), travel agencies, and a number of OTAs located all over the nation.
Praveen Iyer, co-founder and chief executive officer, said: “We launch operations with flights between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, using the brand-new Boeing 737 Max aircraft.”
“We will adopt a phased approach to support network expansion plans, progressively connecting more cities, as we add two aircraft to each month, in our first year,” he added.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation recently issued Akasa Air the Air Operator Certificate.
Days prior, the airline introduced its crew uniform, stating that it has concentrated on offering the greatest stretch to assure their comfort throughout their hectic flying schedules.
According to the company, Akasa Air is the first airline in India to offer custom trousers, jackets, and comfortable footwear for flight attendants. These garments were made with fabric specifically chosen for Akasa Air using recycled polyester made from pet bottle plastic recovered from marine waste.
